Yesterday, Bill Cosby was convicted of three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand. She was one of dozens of women who have accused the disgraced actor and comedian of drugging and sexually abusing them. Last summer, Cosby's first trial for his actions against Constand ended in a mistrial, but since then the #MeToo movement has swept across the nation and other men from Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey have lost their positions of power due to accusations of sexual misconduct.

The Cosby verdict, which shocked many, is a clear win for "the silence breakers" — the women and men who have been brave enough to speak up about their abuse. The outcome of his trial gives every person who's ever been sexually assaulted a little more confidence to demand justice. Because for far too long the accounts of victims have been discounted and discredited.
