Cheers, to Brighter Days Ahead

Money
Starting today, each day will hold a little more light than the last. That's true literally, since yesterday was the winter solstice, and also figuratively. We have a vaccine that offers hope for our country's recovery. We also have a new stimulus package (that admittedly has some heavy lifting to do). So as we celebrate a holiday season that might be quieter than usual, let's look forward to the brighter days that lie ahead. In the meantime, I'm grateful for my family's health, my job, and all of you.

Retire with Money is off for the rest of the year. Happy Holidays, and see you in 2021!

Best wishes,
Elizabeth

RETIRE WITH MONEY COMMUNITY INSIGHTS
This week in our Retire with Money Facebook group, members discussed some confusion about a recent email that Money sent out. It came this past Saturday with the subject line, "Has your data been compromised?" Its look and tone were a bit different from our usual emails, which led some folks to wonder whether the message was a scam. I can assure you it wasn't: it introduced a new data tool we created that lets you know if your email has been part of any known data breaches. It's a free tool, plus a partnership with a few cyber security products, which we recommend people consider if they find their data has been compromised. If you end up getting the password manager, for example, we would get credit for that (a commission), but it's totally up to you. The companies we recommend are companies we feel offer something of value. That said, you can enjoy our free content without taking our suggestions! (Many media companies, including The New York Times, make money this way.)

We salute those who were skeptical. After all, you can't be too careful these days. And if the email took some folks by surprise, we probably could have done a better job introducing the tool and explaining how it can be helpful.
