As 2022 comes to an end, we're looking back at top history-related stories on TIME.com this year.

Though legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent is now stalled in Congress, there's clearly still a lot of interest in the topic. Our most-read story was about the last time the U.S. made this effort in the 1970s. Across the pond, the death of Queen Elizabeth II drew many readers to stories about where her reign fits in history. And exclusive TIME reporting on efforts to teach the full history of America continue to top the charts, from a look at the AP African American Studies pilot to a report that shows almost every U.S. state is "failing" to teach Reconstruction properly.
