Matt just got married a few weeks ago, and he’s laying down a responsible financial foundation for the future. Where should he park his emergency cash? he wondered. While the Federal Reserve has raised benchmark interest rates twice this year, regular savings accounts still aren’t paying all that much in interest. Members responded in force, generously sharing their banks’ interest rates, account minimums and even customer service details. Many liked Ally, an online bank Matt had been considering that that pays 1.8% APY. Some members offered further tips, such as making sure it’s easy to transfer money back and forth to his primary checking account.
