I’m embarrassed to admit this, but my family spends WAY too much on our cable bill each month. We researched cutting the cord, but the alternatives didn’t seem to include this one international channel that we like. So we’ll hang onto our fancy package, at least for now. But I’d love to spend less on it, so I’m going to try Trim -- a new web site that, among other services, negotiates your cable bill for you (for a cut of the savings). MONEY staffers road-tested Trim and other apps that can save you money. Read more about them in today’s edition. Because when you’re saving for retirement, every little bit helps.
Best wishes,
Elizabeth

Many thanks to those who came to our inaugural Retire with Money-LIVE event on Tuesday! You asked great questions of our two panelists, Teresa Ghilarducci and Thomas Mingone. Thank you for the lively and engaging discussion! For those who couldn’t make it, we’re working on video of the event to post in our Facebook group. And I’ll post answers to the questions that you sent in for the panelists. Please stay tuned.
In the meantime, November is fiction month in our Retire with Money book club! We’ve read three nonfiction books in a row, and while they were all good, I’m ready to mix it up. We’ll focus on fiction that centers on retirement and/or estate-planning themes. Please send suggestions my way to retirewithmoney@moneymail.com. We’ll vote on our title next week!
