Two big solar names are moving in different directions after hours. Enphase Energy is down more than 10% after a big miss on guidance. At today's close, the stock was already off by more than 37% year to date. First Solar, on the other hand, is higher in the extended session after beating on earnings and revenue. The company also announced its fifth U.S. factory. Shares have gained more than 30% in 2023. On Friday, CNBC's Pippa Stevens will be covering both of those moves, and First Solar's CEO Mark Widmar will be on "Squawk on the Street."
Boston Beer jumps on results
Boston Beer is soaring in the extended session after smashing earnings estimates. The brewer also reaffirmed its full-year volume and earnings guidance. The stock has been a laggard this year, down 5% as of today's close. Its larger rivals, like Molson Coors and Constellation Brands both hit 52-week highs in the last couple days and are firmly higher for the year. AB InBev is down around 3% this year.
Live Nation shares unmoved after big earnings
Live Nation is having a muted response to a very strong earnings report, with the concert and ticketing giant topping estimates on earnings and revenue. CNBC earnings editor Robert Hum notes that it was Live Nation's biggest EPS beat since late 2021 and its second-highest quarterly revenue figure ever. Concert demand remains strong and the company is optimistic that the party will continue going into next year. Shares are up 39% year to date and less than 3% from a 52-week high.
