Are cannabis edibles actually good for sleep?

Health Correspondent

Move over, melatonin. Lots of people are now using marijuana edibles not (only) to get high, but also to help them sleep. Sleep specialist Deirdre Conroy told me at least a fifth of her patients do so, and even more are considering it.

For that reason, Conroy says personal experience matters just as much as published science when it comes to weed and sleep. Not everyone will benefit from popping a gummy before bed. But if you do, Conroy says there’s no immediate reason to stop—assuming, of course, weed is legal in your state.

It's a trick question, because they're the exact same medication, tirzepatide, but being marketed by Eli Lilly for two different uses—diabetes and weight loss—with two different names. As Annalisa Merelli explains in STAT, the reason has little to do with science or government regulations and lot to do with how drugs are advertised in the U.S.
