Women have been wondering for years now whether some forms of DCIS, an early form of breast cancer that's considered stage 0, actually require surgery and radiation. A long-awaited study comparing women who got that approach to those who monitored their lesions instead with more frequent mammograms suggests it's possible that some may be able to skip invasive treatments.
