There's alarming news out of Mississippi: officials there have declared a public health emergency because of the state's high rate of infant deaths.
Infant mortality rates, which measure the share of babies who are born alive and then die before they reach their first birthday, are spiking in Mississippi. Other states are seeing a similar trend. Here's why.
