I'm feeling thankful for many things at the moment. As I've noted, we sent our oldest child to college this year. Because I felt so sad saying goodbye to her, I didn't look ahead to the anticipation and excitement of having her at home again, for the holiday. It elicits a new emotion for me, as a parent. It's a mixture I can't quite name, part joy, relief, and nostalgia. I'm so thankful to be feeling it, and discovering the upside to what has mainly been a hard passage in the parenting journey.
In the hope that you have extra time to read this week, I've recommended twice the usual number of articles, below. Write to me about any of them, or anything, at andrea@time.com. I'm so thankful for this community, and hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Best, Andrea
