Around the world, more than 600 companies are developing brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, implanting chips in the brain and elsewhere to help paralyzed people operate lights, computers, speech synthesis systems, and more, using nothing but their thoughts. Even healthy people could use the technology to communicate directly with AI systems.
