What leaving the WHO means for the U.S. and the world

In his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization (WHO). The U.S. was a founding member of the global health group and contributes the most to its budget.
The WHO establishes yearly flu vaccine strains and detects and stamps out infectious diseases, so if the U.S. pulls out, it would have serious effects on the health of Americans as well as people around the world, public health experts told me.
