Nothing screams July 4th like a good old-fashioned hot-dog eating contest. (The most famous one in the world happens today in Coney Island.) But as health journalists, we had to wonder: what do speed-eating competitions do to the human body?

Matt Fuchs spoke to a doctor, along with former and current champs, to find out what exactly happens to all those calories. It isn't pretty.
